Regular Season Round 20: Polpharma - Energa Czarni 78-76

A very close game took place in Starogard between Polpharma and Energa Czarni. Eleventh ranked Polpharma (6-13) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Energa Czarni (12-6). Polpharma managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-76. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Hicks (193-83, college: Central Mo.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and the other American import forward Jeremy Simmons (203-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) who added 10 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Polpharma's coach Wojciech Kaminski used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Stanley Burrell (190-84) responded with 13 points and 5 assists and American-Puerto Rican guard Darnell Hinson (186-80, college: Northeastern St.) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Five Energa Czarni players scored in double figures. Polpharma moved-up to tenth place, which they share with PBG Basket. Energa Czarni lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. Polpharma will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Energa Czarni will play against Kotwica (#5) in Kolobrzeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
