Very expected game when 14th ranked Bayi Fubang (6-13) lost to tenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (9-9) in Ningbo 105-110 on Friday. The guests trailed by 17 points after three quarters before their 39-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Shanxi Zhongyu forced 22 Bayi Fubang turnovers. Bayi Fubang was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American swingman Marcus Williams (201-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Shanxi Zhongyu's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Lehei De (208-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Lei Wang (203-86) added 28 points in the effort for Bayi Fubang. Four Shanxi Zhongyu and five Bayi Fubang players scored in double figures. Shanxi Zhongyu maintains tenth place with 9-9 record. Bayi Fubang lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu will face higher ranked Zhejiang Cyclones (#4) in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
