Regular Season Round 11: Kalev/Cramo - Ventspils 69-63

There was no surprise in Tallinn where 6th ranked Latvian Ventspils (7-5) were defeated by fourth ranked Estonian Kalev/Cramo (8-3) 69-63 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But Ventspils won third quarter 16-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Gregor Arbet (194-83) who scored 20 points. Guard Gert Dorbek (194-85) chipped in 11 points. American guard Jahmar Young (196-86, college: N.Mexico St.) produced 15 points and 4 steals and center Arturs Berzins (204-88, agency: FCM) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Ventspils players scored in double figures. Ventspils' coach Gundars Vetra rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kalev/Cramo have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending Estonian champion moved-up to second place in Elite, which they share with Triumph. Loser Ventspils dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Kalev/Cramo will face Juventus (#7) in Utena in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
