No shocking result in a game in Essen where third ranked Crailsheim Merlins (11-5) defeated 11th ranked ETB Wohnbau (6-10) 78-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-73. Crailsheim Merlins made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Crailsheim Merlins outrebounded ETB Wohnbau 37-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Aaron Cook (186-83, college: Hartford) chipped in 18 points. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. Loser ETB Wohnbau dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face Cuxhaven BasCats (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ETB Wohnbau will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule in Allmendingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
