Regular Season Round 14: Queen's - Toronto Univ. 56-69

Date: January 7, 2012
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Blues (5-5) beat bottom-ranked Golden Gaels (0-10) in Kingston, ON 69-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Blues. Golden Gaels was better in third quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Golden Gaels to just 7 points in first quarter. Blues made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Center Andrew Wasik (201) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Justin Holmes (180) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Michael Farine replied with 17 points and forward Matthew Baker (193) added 10 points in the effort for Golden Gaels. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Blues moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Golden Gaels still closes the standings with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
