There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Basket Esch (7-7) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Musel Pikes (7-7) 68-50 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Musel Pikes. Basket Esch managed to win fourth quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Musel Pikes forced 20 Basket Esch turnovers. American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-British forward Philip Perre (198-79, college: N.Alabama) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. International forward Martin Rajniak (204-78, college: CSU Bakersfield) responded with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Slovakian power forward Stefan Svitek (203-77) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Musel Pikes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Soleuvre and Basket Esch. Musel Pikes will meet at home BBC Nitia (#9) in the next round. Basket Esch will play against Soleuvre (#7) in Belvaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
