There was no surprise in Guimaraes where 10th ranked Vitoria SC (3-9) was defeated by sixth ranked CAB Madeira (8-4) 72-67 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 40-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. CAB Madeira made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Vitoria SC turnovers. The best player for the winners was American power forward Shawn Jackson (203-71, college: Johnson C. Smith) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import guard Austin Kenon (180, college: VMI) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Brian Morris (205-87, college: Humboldt St.) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and international center Claudio Fonseca (206-89) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. CAB Madeira moved-up to fourth place. Loser Vitoria SC dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. CAB Madeira will face league's leader Benfica on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Vitoria SC will play against Barreirense (#6) in Barreiro.
