Regular Season Round 12: Asteras - Kronos AD 78-69

Very expected game when 8th ranked Kronos AD (4-8) lost to fourth ranked Asteras (8-4) in Athens 69-78. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-16. But Kronos AD won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kronos AD 43-29 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was swingman Vassiliki Daskalopoulou (178-84) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). American guard Nikitta Gartrell (175-88, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian power forward Milena Vukicevic (188-80) who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds and forward Maria Michou (182-83) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Kronos AD players scored in double figures. Asteras have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panionios. Kronos AD at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Asteras' next round opponent will be FEA Neas (#6) in Halkidon. Kronos AD will play at home against Panathinaikos in Athens.
