Regular Season Round 23: Tulsa 66ers - Austin T. 90-91

Jerome Dyson (6'3'-G-87, college: Connecticut) scored a game-high 25 points and Marcus Lewis (6'8'-F/C-86, college: ORU) notched his ninth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 boards, but the Tulsa 66ers (9-7) were edged by the Austin Toros (12-3) by a 91-90 final score Sunday afternoon inside the Tulsa Convention Center. Also scoring in double figures for Tulsa was Brady Morningstar with 14 and reserve Dwight Buycks with 12. Tulsa's defense forced 17 Toro turnovers and created eight steals, led by Dyson and Curtis Sumpter with two thefts each. Offensively, the 66ers shot 36-of-70 (.514) from the floor, including 7-of-16 (.438) from 3-point range. Tulsa recorded 22 assists as a team, led by Morningstar with a team-high five dishes. 'We didn't execute down the stretch as well as we needed to,' 66ers head coach Dale Osbourne said. 'This will continue to be a learning process for our guys. We will keep our heads up and continue focusing on getting better as a team.' Austin, who entered the contest in first place in the Western Conference, used a 29-19 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to post the win. Tulsa began the final period leading 71-62. Leading the Toros in scoring was Justin Dentmon (6'0'-G-85, college: Washington) with 23. Eric Dawson (6'10'-F-84, college: Midwestern St.) added 19 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the year. The 66ers return to action at the 2012 NBA D-League Showcase, held this year in Reno, Nev. Tulsa will take on the Texas Legends on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5:30 p.m. CT inside the Reno Events Center.
