The Skyforce almost overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit Wednesday night but fell 98-95 to the Texas Legends in the NBA D-League Showcase. The Skyforce got within 92-90 but Booker Woodfox banked in a 3-pointer with 21.3 seconds left to give Texas a 95-90 lead. Casey Mitchell then hit a 3-pointer for Sioux Falls, trimming the lead to two. The Legends’ Drew Neitzel got fouled and made one of two free throws to put Texas up 96-93. Sioux Falls took the quick two-point basket to pull within a point before Woodfox hit two free throws to give Texas its final margin. The game marked the return to the Sioux Falls lineup of Patrick Ewing Jr. To make room for him on the roster, the team waived forward Billy McShepard due to injury. Ewing holds D-League career averages of 17.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists . He played 23 games for Sioux Falls last year. Greg Ostertag had 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots in 21 minutes for Texas. The 11-year NBA veteran is trying to make a comeback afrer being away from the game for five years.
