There was a small surprise in Giessen where sixteenth ranked LTi 46ers (6-12) beat 13th ranked Walter Tigers (6-12) 76-61 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-61. LTi 46ers made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Walter Tigers turnovers. Walter Tigers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was guard Barry Stewart (191-88, college: Mississippi St.) who scored 17 points. Guard Wayne Bernard (190-81, college: Davidson, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). LTi 46ers' coach Bjoern Harmsen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) who recorded 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Joshua Young (185-88, college: Drake, agency: Pro One Sports) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. LTi 46ers moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with defeated Walter Tigers. Walter Tigers lost third consecutive game. LTi 46ers will face higher ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#12) in Frankfurt in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
