Korisliiga top team - Joensuun Kataja (22-4) added another victory to their record on Wednesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Torpan Pojat (13-13) 96-91. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-17. But Torpan Pojat won second period 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Joensuun Kataja won last quarter 29-26. Joensuun Kataja made 31-of-35 free shots (88.6 percent) during the game, while Torpan Pojat only scored ten points from the stripe. 31 personal fouls committed by Torpan Pojat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Pro One Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds.
