There was no surprise when 7th ranked Vaerlose (8-14) was defeated on the road by second ranked Svendborg (20-2) 81-63 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Svendborg. Vaerlose managed to win fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Svendborg dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Vaerlose's 34. American forward Durell Vinson (201-85, college: Wagner) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Matthew Kingsley (206-86, college: SF Austin) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Svendborg players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Christopher Sprinker (205, college: Cent.Washington) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and forward Mads Rasmussen (191-86) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Svendborg have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Bakken. Loser Vaerlose dropped to the sixth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Horsens IC. Svendborg will meet at home Horsholm (#5) in the next round. Vaerlose will play against Naestved and hope to secure a win.
