Very expected game when 9th ranked SC Rist Wedel (8-12) lost on the road to third ranked Hertener Loewen (13-6) 95-84 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Hertener Loewen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Zamal Nixon (185-89, college: Houston) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and guard Maik Berger (175-84) accounted for 18 points and 5 assists. Five Hertener Loewen players scored in double figures. American guard Augie Johnston (185-86, college: CS Monterey) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the other American import center Anthony Pettaway (203-87, college: Defiance) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively for SC Rist Wedel in the defeat. Hertener Loewen have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-6 record behind leader Hannover, which they share with Vechta. Loser SC Rist Wedel keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Wulfen. Hertener Loewen will meet at home Dorsten (#5) in the next round. SC Rist Wedel will play against BSV Wulfen (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
