Everything could happen in Manila at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Filipino Petron Blaze and 4th placed Thailand Bangkok Cobras had identical 2-2 record. This time Petron Blaze used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Bangkok 94-59 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Petron Blaze led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Bangkok Cobras' 28. Petron Blaze forced 23 Bangkok Cobras turnovers and outrebounded them 51-31 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Petron Blaze looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Bangkok Cobras' players. American power forward Douglas Thomas (206-83, college: Iowa) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dalron Johnson (206-81, college: UNLV) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Petron Blaze players scored in double figures. American power forward Gentry Lewis (206-81, college: Philander Smith) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Filipino guard Marvin Cruz (173-84) added 17 points in the effort for Bangkok Cobras. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petron Blaze (3-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with KL Dragons. Loser Bangkok Cobras dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Petron Blaze will face bottom-ranked Saigon Heat (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bangkok Cobras will play against Satria Muda in Jakarta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
