Regular Season Round 5: Philip.Patriots - KL Dragons 86-72

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Filipino Philippine Patriots as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Philippine Patriots defeated second-ranked Malaysian KL Dragons in Manila 86-72. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American players dominated the game. Swingman Anthony Johnson (197-79, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and center Nakiea Miller (204-79, college: Iona) chipped in 21 points and 15 rebounds. Center Brian Williams (208-87, college: Tennessee, agency: VVG Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Tiras Wade (200-81, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Philippine Patriots have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. KL Dragons at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Petron Blaze. KL Dragons will play next round against Thailand Slammers trying to get back on the winning streak. Philippine Patriots will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Singapore Slingers on the road.
