There was no surprise in Madrid where 15th ranked Asefa Estudiantes (6-13) was defeated by second ranked Regal FC Barcelona (16-3) 80-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Regal FC Barcelona. Asefa Estudiantes was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American swingman Chuck Eidson (202-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points. International guard Juan Carlos Navarro (192-80) helped adding 15 points. Four Regal FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. Regal FC Barcelona's coach Xavier Pascual used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center German Gabriel (207-80) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Chris Lofton (188-86, college: Tennessee) scored 17 points. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Regal FC Barcelona. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Asefa Estudiantes lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth place with 13 games lost. Regal FC Barcelona will face FIATC Joventut (#14) in Badalona in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Asefa Estudiantes will play on the road against CAI Zaragoza.
