Regular Season Round 25: Polpharma - Stelmet ZG 82-76

Date: February 5, 2012
An interesting game took place in Starogard where higher ranked Zastal ZG (14-9) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Polpharma (8-15) 82-76 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zastal ZG won fourth quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Polpharma made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American guard Michael Hicks (193-83, college: Central Mo.) fired 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners (made all of his nine free throws !!!). His fellow American import forward Jeremy Simmons (203-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Ivorian-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) produced 17 points and forward Jakub Dloniak (192-83) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Zastal ZG's coach Mihailo Uvalin tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Polpharma moved-up to tenth place, which they share with PBG Basket. Loser Zastal ZG keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Polpharma will meet higher ranked PGE Turow (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zastal ZG will play against Kotwica in Kolobrzeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
