Regular Season Round 17: Lapua - Tapiolan Honka 71-64

1st Division round 17 caused change at the leadership position. Fourth defeat of league's leader Tapiolan Honka (13-4) against fifth ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (12-5) 71-64 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Tapiolan Honka. Tapiolan Honka was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 23-14 charge of Lapuan Korikobrat, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) orchestrated the victory by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Eric Williams (198-85, college: Tarleton St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Forward Tero Laitinen (201-87) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and forward Ilkka Sirola (197-86) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Tapiolan Honka. Lapuan Korikobrat moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Pyrinto II. Tapiolan Honka at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by FoKoPo who have the same record. Tapiolan Honka will play next round against strong BC Nokia trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Lapuan Korikobrat will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Oulun NMKY on the road.
