Regular Season Round 14: Rudupis - Ventspils 69-79

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Prienai where one of their biggest challengers Lithuanian Rudupis (9-5) were defeated by fifth ranked Latvian Ventspils (10-5) 79-69 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 16 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Ventspils dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Rudupis' 26. They outrebounded Rudupis 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. American guard Jahmar Young (196-86, college: N.Mexico St.) scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Steven Gray (195-89, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Forward Arnas Labuckas (205-87, agency: Interperformances) responded with 22 points and forward Simas Buterlevicius (200-89) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Ventspils have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in 1. Loser Rudupis dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Ventspils will have a break next round. Rudupis will play at home against Triumph Lyubertsy (#3) in Lubertsy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
