Regular Season Round 15: LSU-Baltai - Kalev/Cramo 89-78

There was an upset when second-best Estonian Kalev/Cramo (11-6) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Lithuanian Baltai Kaunas (3-11) 89-78 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Baltai Kaunas. Kalev/Cramo was better in second period 29-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baltai Kaunas made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was center Mindaugas Kupsas (214-91) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Zygimantas Janavicius (192-89, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points. Four Baltai Kaunas players scored in double figures. Baltai Kaunas' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Reimo Tamm (185-84) who recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Tanel Sokk (184-85) added 15 points respectively. Baltai Kaunas maintains tenth place in 1 with 3-11 record. Defending Estonian champion Kalev/Cramo dropped to the third position with six games lost. Baltai Kaunas will face higher ranked Kedainiai (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kalev/Cramo will play against Triumph Lyubertsy (#4) in Lubertsy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
