Regular Season Round 15: Ventspils - Juventus 84-71

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Lithuanian Juventus (7-9) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Latvian Ventspils (11-5) 84-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ventspils. Juventus was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Jahmar Young (196-86, college: N.Mexico St.) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guinean-Ivorian swingman Mamadi Diane (196-86, college: Virginia) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Ventspils players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Karolis Petrukonis (212-87, college: Clemson) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Darius Pakamanis (193-81) added 12 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ventspils have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in 1. Loser Juventus dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Ventspils will have a break next round. Juventus will play on the road against Liepaja (#11).
