Regular Season Round 42: Bakersfield J. - Tulsa 66ers 102-86

Date: February 10, 2012
The Bakersfield Jam (14-14) put a stop to their four game skid behind an attack that featured seven players scoring in double figures, took the first lead of the game at the 11:48 mark of the first quarter on a 3-pointer, made another 3-pointer at the 10:12 mark for a 6-0 lead, and never looked back. There were no lead changes in the game, as the Jam went wire to wire for a 102-86 victory over the visiting Tulsa 66ers (15-16) on Friday night in Bakersfield. For the game, the Jam shot a phenomenal 63.6 % (14-22) from the 3-point line, while shooting a solid 52.9 % from the field overall. The Jam defense held the 66ers to 44% from the field, including 31.3% from threes. Tulsa didn’t help their cause much from the free-throw line, going a woeful 7-16 (43.8%). The Jam also out-boarded the 66ers by a 46-38 margin. The Jam lead swelled to as much as 21 points (98-77), with 2:27 left in the game, and they just seemed to cruise throughout the contest. It was just one of those games where every time Tulsa would cut into the margin, the Jam would respond right back. Derrick Byars led the Jam scoring attack with 18 points, followed by Jamie Vanderbeken 14 (4-4 from 3-point), Jeremy Wise 14, Osiris Eldridge 13, Juan Pattillo 13, and 10 rebounds, Adrian Thomas 13, and Mustapha Farrakhan 11. Tulsa was paced by Delroy James with 19 (off the bench), Marcus Lewis 18, and 12 rebounds, Larry Owens 14, and Jerome Dyson finished with 10. The Jam bench outscored the 66ers bench by 16 points (50-34), the same as the game’s final margin of victory. The same two clubs will play again Saturday night (Feb 11) at the Jam Events Center in Bakersfield.
