Regular Season Round 6: Saigon H. - Petron Blaze 62-85
Date: February 11, 2012
Bottom-ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (0-6) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to fourth ranked Filipino Petron Blaze (4-2) 85-62 on Saturday evening. Petron Blaze dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Saigon Heat's 40. Petron Blaze forced 28 Saigon Heat turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Dalron Johnson (206-81, college: UNLV) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import power forward Douglas Thomas (206-83, college: Iowa) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Petron Blaze players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was U.S. Virgin Isl.-Antiguan guard Julius Hodge (201-83, college: N.Carolina St., agency: I.D.S. Law) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and American center Jonathan Jones (211-79, agency: TSS Management) added 26 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petron Blaze moved-up to second place, which they share with KL Dragons. Loser Saigon Heat still closes the standings with six games lost. Petron Blaze will meet Satria Muda (#5) in the next round. Saigon Heat will play against Bangkok Cobras and hopes to get finally their first victory.
