Regular Season Round 29: Saskatchewan - Manitoba 106-81

Date: February 11, 2012
Not a big story in a game in Saskatoon, SK where 5th ranked Bisons (8-12) were rolled over by first ranked Huskies (15-4) 106-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Huskies. Bisons was better in third quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Bisons' 36. They outrebounded Bisons 57-19 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. International forward Michael Lieffers (203-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Ben Baker (191) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Stephan Walton (175-87, college: Valdosta St.) responded with 18 points and 4 steals and Yigit Ozsayiner scored 16 points. Five Huskies and four Bisons players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Huskies have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-4 record. Bisons lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
