Regular Season Round 43: Sioux Falls S. - Canton C. 95-107
Date: February 11, 2012
The Canton Charge defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 107-95 Saturday night in front of a patriotic crowd of 4,743 fans at the Sioux Falls Arena. Canton was able to take advantage of Sioux Falls’ poor shooting throughout the night and pulled away in the second half leading by as many as 17 points. Canton (15-16) came out of the gates quickly in the opening quarter and led Sioux Falls 15-3 nearly halfway through the quarter. Sioux Falls (8-23) responded with a 10-0 run fueled by Marqus Blakely’s play off the bench to pull within two (15-13). Canton was able to stabilize the momentum and led 26-21 after one. Sioux Falls took their first and only lead of the game when Gabe Pruitt found Anthony Mason, Jr. for a turnaround hook shot and the Skyforce led 38-37 a little over halfway through the second quarter. However, it didn’t last long as Canton went on a quick 9-3 run to take the lead back and led at halftime 50-44. Trying to win their second game in a row, Sioux Falls could not knock down shots in the second half to close the gap. After pulling within five (87-82) a little less then eight minutes left in the game, Canton responded with the knockout punch, going on a 14-2 run to take their biggest lead of the game 101-84. During this stretch Sioux Falls missed seven straight shots and Canton won for the fifth time in their last seven contests. Sioux Falls followed up their best 3-point shooting night with one of their worst, going just 1-of-14 from beyond the 3-point line. Manny Harris finished with a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds. Antoine Agudio came off the bench to contribute 20 points. In just his second game since being traded for, Blakely came off the bench to score 20 points while also adding seven rebounds. Trey Gilder led Sioux Falls in scoring with 24 points. Canton continues their road trip with a visit to Rio Grande Valley on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. Sioux Falls hosts Tulsa Friday at 7 p.m. CT. *Courtesy of www.keoland.com
