We should mention about the upset which took place in Homburg, where higher ranked NBC (9-11) lost to fourteenth ranked Saar-Pfalz Braves (6-15) in a road game 68-79 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 47-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Saar-Pfalz Braves made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Naturalized Greek guard Kosta Karamatskos (197-86) fired 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Nigerian-American forward P.J. Alawoya (200-88, college: McNeese St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Alawoya is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Naturalized American power forward Ryan De Michael (205-77, college: Tenn-Martin) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian forward Ike Okoye (206, college: Boise St.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Saar-Pfalz Braves maintains fourteenth position with 6-15 record. Newly promoted NBC dropped to the ninth place with 11 games lost. Saar-Pfalz Braves will face higher ranked Science City Jena (#8) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
