A very interesting game took place in Barcelos. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 10th ranked Barcelos (4-12) to seventh ranked Academica (7-8) 72-70 on Saturday evening. Barcelos were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Nigerian-American guard Richard Oruche (191-87, college: Ill.-Springfield, agency: KMG Sports Management) fired 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Delano Thomas (203-81, college: Shawnee St.) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Oruche is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Spanish power forward Sergi Coll (204-82) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Pedro Silva (198-79) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Academica have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 7-8 record. Barcelos lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the tenth place with 12 games lost. Academica's next round opponent will be higher ranked Barreirense (#5) in Barreiro and it may be quite challenging game. Barcelos will play on the road against the league's second-placed Benfica (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
