D.J. Kennedy had scored in double figures in 16 consecutive games before failing to do so in Sunday's loss to the Dakota Wizards. He made up for it Thursday night. Kennedy scored a career-high 28 points in leading the Erie BayHawks to a 113-106 win against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants before 2,190 fans at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. A rookie guard out of St. John's, Kennedy was a blazing 7-of-8 from 3-point range. Erie (15-16) shot 16-of-30 from behind the arc. Darnell Lazare led the Mad Ants (10-22) with 28 points. The BayHawks had six players score in double figures as rookies Mychel Thompson and Tirrell Baines added 21 and 18 points, respectively. Thompson, who went 5-of-7 from 3-point range, had 13 points in the first quarter in sparking Erie to a 37-30 lead. Sharrod Ford, Tyrone Brazelton and Jeremy Green made their Erie debuts Thursday. Ford returned to the BayHawks after the trade that sent him to Canton was voided because Frank Hassell failed a team physical. Ford had 11 points and five rebounds off the bench. On Monday, Erie had acquired Ford out of the D-League player pool and traded him to the expansion Charge for Hassell. After Hassell failed the physical in Erie because of his knee, the trade was voided and Ford was sent back to Erie. Brazelton and Green each scored three points Thursday. Erie acquired both out of the player pool. The BayHawks will have a rematch against the Wizards (15-14) Saturday at 7 p.m. at Tullio Arena.
