Regular Season Round 14: Rustavi - STU Tbilisi 67-54
Date: February 17, 2012
Energy Invest can celebrate finally their first win this season after 12 consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked STU (5-8) 67-54. The game was mostly controlled by Energy Invest. STU was better in fourth quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding STU to just 7 points in third quarter. Energy Invest forced 22 STU turnovers. Cameroonian forward Talba Toudjani (201-80) notched 10 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Rati Baakashvili (190-92) supported him with 15 points. Even 17 points by power forward Luka Nozadze (207-88) did not help to save the game for STU. Forward Zurab Machaladze (198-92) added 5 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. STU's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Energy Invest (1-12) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Batumi. It was STU's third loss in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Energy Invest will have a break next round.
