ASEAN League top team - Filipino Philippine Patriots (6-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Thailand Thailand Slammers (3-5) in Bangkok 81-72. Thailand Slammers were ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 30-13 third quarter run of Philippine Patriots. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a quality performance for swingman Anthony Johnson (197-79, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Nakiea Miller (204-79, college: Iona) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Philippine Patriots players scored in double figures. Philippine Patriots' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Center DeAndre Thomas (203-86, college: Robert Morris) came up with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Kenneth Walker (206-80, college: Alabama) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Thailand Slammers in the defeat. Philippine Patriots have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record. Thailand Slammers at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Philippine Patriots will play against Bangkok Cobras (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Thailand Slammers will play against Saigon Heat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
