Regular Season Round 33: Nova Ves - Levice 86-67

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Levice (13-17) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Nova Ves (16-14) 86-67 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Nova Ves. Levice managed to win second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nova Ves dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Levice's 34. Nova Ves forced 21 Levice turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. International center Michal Batka (204-87) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and American guard Corey Jefferson (183-85, college: Texas St.) chipped in 11 points and 17 assists. Jefferson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was international forward Richard Urland (195-84) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Kevin Bridgewaters (175-84, college: Chattanooga) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Levice's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Nova Ves moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Handlova. Newly promoted Levice keeps the seventh position with 17 games lost. Nova Ves will meet bottom-ranked Vahostav-Zilina (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Levice will play against Komarno and hope to secure a win.
