It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Huskies's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-16 extending their advantage to 14 points. Huskies outrebounded Spartans 40-26 including 18 on the offensive glass. Spartans were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jamelle Barrett (180) who had a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 10 assists. International forward Michael Lieffers (203-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. American point guard Tristan Smith (183-86) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import forward Kyle Coston (203-87, college: Portland St.) added 22 points respectively for the hosts. Five Huskies and four Spartans players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
