Very important is a road loss of third ranked Orchesien BC (16-7) against eighth ranked Vendee Challans (13-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Orchesien BC was defeated by Vendee Challans in a tough game in Challans 75-83. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Orchesien BC. The hosts were ahead by 5 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 26-16 run, which allowed them to win the game. Vendee Challans made 31-of-36 charity shots (86.1 percent) during the game. Orchesien BC was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Fabien Herard (198-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). American forward Josh Almanson (205-82, college: Bowling Green) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Olivier Gouez (219-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and swingman David Cilly (196-81) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Orchesien BC. Four Orchesien BC players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vendee Challans maintains eighth place with 13-10 record, which they share with Sorgues. Orchesien BC at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Souffel. Vendee Challans will play against higher ranked Cognac (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
