Bottom-ranked Alcamo managed to get a third victory on Sunday night. This time they edged tenth-ranked Priolo 59-57. Priolo was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (193-85, college: Hofstra) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Nicole Michael (188-87, college: Syracuse) supported her with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Alcamo players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 9 rebounds by American center Katryna Gaither (191-75) did not help to save the game for Priolo. Serbian swingman Tanja Cirov (181-81) added 16 points. Alcamo (3-15) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Cagliari CUS. Priolo lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Alcamo will meet higher ranked Pall.Pozzuoli (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Priolo will play against the league's leader Taranto where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
