Regular Season Round 35: Svit - Nitra 74-65

The game between second ranked Nitra (20-11) and sixth ranked Svit (16-15) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Nitra was defeated by Svit in a tough game in Svit 65-74. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nitra won fourth quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Svit made 7 blocks. American forward Kenneth Henderson (201-82, college: Texas Arlington) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Johndre Jefferson (207-88, college: S.Carolina) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Four Svit players scored in double figures. Lithuanian center Darius Silinskis (216-84, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds and international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) added 24 points and 5 assists in the effort for Nitra. Svit moved-up to fifth place. Nitra at the other side dropped to the third position with 11 games lost. Svit are looking forward to face higher ranked Handlova (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nitra will play against the league's leader Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
