Regular Season Round 1: San German - Bayamon 80-99

Another interesting game for undefeated Vaqueros (1-0) which played in San German against Atleticos (0-1). Leader Vaqueros had an easy win 99-80. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Vaqueros. Atleticos was better in second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. The former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and the former international guard Miguel Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valparaiso) chipped in 17 points. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. At the losing side international point guard Filiberto Rivera (190-82, college: UTEP) responded with 20 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and international guard Carlos Strong (191-87, college: Boston U.) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vaqueros keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Atleticos at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Vaqueros will play against Capitanes (#5) in Arecibo in the next round. Atleticos will play on the road against Quebradillas to get more than just one victory in their record.
