Marousi has finally registered their first victory this season after 19 consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Athens, where they defeated Peristeri GS (6-13) 58-52. It looked good early as Peristeri GS took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Marousi had a 18-6 second period charge getting the lead and Peristeri GS was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 52-58. Marousi dominated on the defensive end, holding Peristeri GS to just 6 points in second quarter. Forward Andreas Kanonidis (198-91) nailed 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized Cypriot forward Prodromos Nikolaidis (201-78, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Panagiotis Kafkis (197-80) added 7 points and 10 assists respectively for Peristeri GS in the defeat. Marousi maintains thirteenth place with 1-19 record. It was Peristeri GS's fifth loss in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Marousi will play against league's second-placed Panathinaikos in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Peristeri GS will play on the road against AGOR (#5) in Rethymno and hopes to get back on the winning track.
