Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kara Trutnov (18-11) against sixth ranked Basket Slovanka MB (16-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Kara Trutnov was defeated by Basket Slovanka MB in a tough game in Vodochody 76-80. It looked good early as Kara Trutnov took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Basket Slovanka MB had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Kara Trutnov was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-80. Basket Slovanka MB dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Kara Trutnov's 34. Worth to mention a great performance of center Lenka Sipova (185-88) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds. American center Mellisa D'Amico (195-86, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Basket Slovanka MB's coach Rene Stepanek allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international forward Hana Snajdrova-Ziklova (183-80) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds and forward Katerina Novakova (188-85) added 12 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Kara Trutnov. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Basket Slovanka MB maintains sixth place in Group A1 with 16-14 record. Kara Trutnov at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Basket Slovanka MB will play against higher ranked VS Praha (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kara Trutnov will play against the league's leader USK Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
