Rather expected game when 11th ranked Alcamo (3-16) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Pall.Pozzuoli (7-12) 76-71 on Sunday. Alcamo trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 23-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-76 at the end of the game. Pall.Pozzuoli had a 37-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Kelly Mazzante (183-82, college: Penn St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized American guard Angela Zampella (170-78, college: St.Joseph's) helped adding 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Pall.Pozzuoli players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Nicole Michael (188-87, college: Syracuse) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Romanian forward Simina Mandache (185-81) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Pall.Pozzuoli maintains ninth place with 7-12 record. Alcamo at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Pall.Pozzuoli will face higher ranked CA Faenza (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alcamo will play against the league's leader Taranto (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
