Regular Season Round 20: H.R. Le-Zion - Elitzur Ramla 75-79

Date: March 5, 2012
Very expected game when 9th ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (6-12) lost at home to second ranked Elitzur Ramla (14-5) 79-75 on Monday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-15. But Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Elitzur Ramla forced 22 Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by center Le'Coe Willingham (183-81, college: Auburn, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and swingman Alana Beard (180-82, college: Duke) supported her with 14 points. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds by forward Victoria Dunlap (185-89, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion. Guard Alexis Gray-Lawson (173-87, college: California) added 21 points and 6 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 14-5 record having just -1 point less than leader Maccabi Ashdod. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Elitzur Ramla will meet at home Bnot Hasharon (#6) in the next round. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Hap.Petah Tikva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
