NBA
Regular Season Round 68: Portland TB - N.Orleans H. 86-74
Date: March 5, 2012
It started off slowly for the Portland Trail Blazers, but they picked it up in the second half holding the New Orleans Hornets to 10 third quarter points and that defensive effort propelled the Trail Blazers over the Hornets 86-74. This win breaks a three-game losing streak for the Trail Blazers and it's their first win after the All-Star break. Trail Blazers won the rebounding battle 43-37 and second chance points 12-3. Nicolas Batum led the Trail Blazers with 19 points and Marcus Camby got his rhythm back grabbing 16 rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Raymond Felton returned to the starting lineup in place of Jamal Crawford and had a solid outing. He finished with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting and had 11 assist. LaMarcus Aldridge could never quite get into the game. The Hornets doubled him throughout. Still, he ended the game with a double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds. Marco Belinelli led the Hornets with 18 points. Forward Kurt Thomas was reactivated tonight after sitting out the last two games due to the concussion he revived in Denver. Not surprisingly, his first shot of the game was an air-ball. Chris Johnson was deactivated to make room for Thomas. Now, it's onto the seven-game road trip for the Trail Blazers starting with a rematch of Saturday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. *Courtesy of www.csnnw.com
