Regular Season Round 21: Hapoel Y/M - Hod Hasharon 98-82

There was an upset when higher ranked Hod Hasharon (11-10) lost on the road to fourteenth ranked Hapoel Yokneam/Megido (7-14) 98-82 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Yokneam/Megido. Hod Hasharon was better in fourth quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Yokneam/Megido dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hod Hasharon's 44 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hod Hasharon 42-23 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Solomon Bozeman (185-87, college: UALR) who led his team to a victory with 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import power forward Rahshon Turner (201-75, college: Fair Dickinson) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Naturalized Latvian swingman Gary Gandel (203-80) answered with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Puerto Rican point guard Javier Gonzalez (182-89, college: N.Carolina St.) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Hod Hasharon. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Yokneam/Megido moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Hod Hasharon keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Hapoel Yokneam/Megido will face higher ranked Elitzur Ramla (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hod Hasharon will play against Ironi Nahariya (#11).
