Regular Season Round 23: Geneve Lions - Monthey 62-64

The most exciting game of round 23 in the LNA took place in Geneve. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Geneve Lions (15-6) to third ranked Monthey (15-5) 64-62 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Geneve Lions. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 22-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Croatian-Slovenian center Martin Mihajlovic (208-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Ian Boylan (197-83, college: CS Northridge) contributed with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Senegalese power forward Babacar Toure (205-85) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Senegalese forward Jules Aw (200-86) added 11 points in the effort for Geneve Lions. Monthey have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Geneve Lions at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Monthey are looking forward to face SAV Vacallo (#5) in Chiasso in the next round. Geneve Lions will play on the road against the league's leader Lugano Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
