Second Stage Round 3: TTT Riga - Fortuna 74-60

There was a change at the Baltic League leadership position after last games. Round 3 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Lithuanian Lemminkainen (2-2). They were defeated by fourth ranked Latvian TTT Riga (2-3) 74-60 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by TTT Riga. Lemminkainen managed to win fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lemminkainen to just 7 points in first quarter. TTT Riga forced 20 Lemminkainen turnovers. It was a great evening for swingman Ieva Krastina (175-90, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Liga Surkusa (194-91) helped adding 12 points and 7 rebounds. TTT Riga's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Gabriele Gutkauskaite (172-90) with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Defending Latvian champion maintains fourth place with 2-3 record. Lemminkainen at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Minsk-2006. They were replaced at the leadership position by Gorizont. Lemminkainen will play next round against league's leader VICI-Aistes trying to make it back to the top of the standings. TTT Riga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
