Regular Season Round 23: Pogon Prudnik - Alba Chorzow 93-62

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Alba Chorzow (11-12) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Pogon Prudnik (15-8) 93-62 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-62. Pogon Prudnik dominated on the defensive end, holding Alba Chorzow to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Pogon Prudnik forced 23 Alba Chorzow turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Maciej Lepczynski (193-82) who scored 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Guard Szymon Kucia (190-83) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Pogon Prudnik players scored in double figures. Pogon Prudnik's coach Tomasz Michalak felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Lukasz Wojcik (189-84) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Adam Spychala (197-84) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Pogon Prudnik maintains fifth place in Group B with 15-8 record. Loser Alba Chorzow keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Pogon Prudnik will face higher ranked AZS AWF K-ce (#3) in Katowice in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alba Chorzow will play at home against WKK Obiekty (#4) in Wroclaw.
