There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Vendee Challans (13-12) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Angers BC 49 (12-13) 82-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Angers BC 49. Vendee Challans was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Angers BC 49 especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Vendee Challans was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Tyray Pearson (201-80, college: Iowa St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and guard Thibaut Lonzieme (195-89) chipped in 13 points. At the losing side forward Fabien Herard (198-79) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Josh Almanson (205-82, college: Bowling Green) scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Angers BC 49 have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain twelfth place with 12-13 record. Loser Vendee Challans keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Angers BC 49 will face higher ranked Roche (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
