Regular Season Round 58: Austin T. - Sioux Falls S. 114-109

For the second consecutive game Eric Dawson ties his season high of 25 points as he led the Toros to a 114-109 victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The Skyforce finished the first quarter with a 30-26 advantage. Gabe Pruitt came off the bench to score 12 points, hitting four of five three pointers in the quarter. In the second quarter, the Toros began to cut into the Skyforce’s lead. Justin Dentmon hit a fast break three to trim the lead, 33-39. Da’Sean Butler followed that up by sinking a layup while being fouled. He would make the free throw to reduce the lead, 36-39. The Toros would go on to take a 42-41 lead off a Dentmon layup. Terrence Woodbury hit a mid-range at the buzzer to give the Toros a 58-56 lead at halftime. The Toros didn’t miss a beat in the third quarter, extending their lead 70-61 after Dentmon was fouled while making a three pointer and the ensuing free throw. The Toros maintained their lead and took a 90-80 lead into the fourth quarter. The Skyforce started to chip away at the Toros lead, reducing it to 98-97 with 4:48 left to play. Trey Gilder made two free throws to give the Skyforce a 103-102 lead, but the Toros regained the lead, 104-103, off a layup by Dawson with 2:38 left in the game. Another pair of free throws gave the Skyforce the lead again, 105-104 but Josh Davis would hit two free throws to give the lead back to the Toros, 106-105. The Toros took control of the fourth after Butler was fouled while making a three, giving the Toros a 112-107 lead with 1:12 left after the made free throw, a lead they never relinquished. Four Toros scored in double figures, led by Dentmon’s 26. Pruitt led the Skyforce with 28 points, a season high for him.
