Regular Season Round 10: Saigon H. - KL Dragons 70-69

The most exciting game of round 10 in the ASEAN League took place in Saigon. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Malaysian KL Dragons (7-4) to eighth ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (3-8) 70-69 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But KL Dragons won second period 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Saigon Heat made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Saigon Heat had a 36-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Jonathan Jones (211-79, agency: TSS Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 22 rebounds. Forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Saigon Heat players scored in double figures. Forward Tiras Wade (200-81, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and center Brian Williams (208-87, college: Tennessee, agency: VVG Sports) added 12 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for KL Dragons. KL Dragons' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Saigon Heat have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 3-8 record. KL Dragons at the other side keep the third place with four games lost. Saigon Heat are looking forward to face league's leader Philippine Patriots in Manila in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. KL Dragons will play on the road against Bangkok Cobras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
