Round 3 in PLK means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Gdynia where host Asseco Prokom (2-1) beat league's leader Energa Czarni (2-1) 92-84 in overtime on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Energa Czarni. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 17-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-9. Asseco Prokom forced 19 Energa Czarni turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Energa Czarni helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) who scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Asseco Prokom's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican point guard Darnell Hinson (186-80, college: Northeastern St.) who recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American center David Weaver (209-87, college: Wake Forest) added 17 points and 4 blocks respectively. Five Energa Czarni players scored in double figures. Defending champion keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Energa Czarni. Energa Czarni will play next round against Anwil trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Asseco Prokom will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked PGE Turow in Zgorzelec.
